'Helping Hands' CONTACT SESSIONS

Our 'contact sessions' are where a small number of our support volunteers meet during the daytime, preferably on a weekend, to offer support to our members only who are going through the application process. These days differ from the FORUMS as they are informal. The date for the next Helping Hands session is shown over on the right.

Please contact us for more information.

GLITF SA has monthly forums which are open to both our members and members of the public. Occasionally we have do hold closed forums, usually with special guest speakers, which are for the benefit of members only (although members of the public can join on the night if you wish to attend). The forums are a good place to find out general information about Partner Visa immigration.

  • our forums are held at the new Aids Council of SA (ACSA) building at 2 Eton Road Keswick.

    See Map.

  • Forum dates
  • As shown in the table to the right. There will be no Forum planned for December 2010. Any change in Forum dates will be announced via e-mail communication.

  • Time
  • The doors open at 6.45pm to GLITF SA members and to the general public for the Forum. The Forum starts at 7pm and the duration of the Forum is dependent on the interaction of members and the amount of discussion topics, but generally lasts approximately one an hour. The GLITF SA Committee meets on separate night to the Forums and is for the Committee members only

Pro-Bono Registered Migration Agent

GLITF SA has an arrangement with a registered migration agent to provide limited migration advice to our members regarding their application. This service is provided pro bono and is normally restricted to approximately half an hour. To take advantage of this the visit must be coordinated through the GLITF SA Secretary and is held in the offices of the migration agent. Requests to visit the pro-bono migration agent will need to be made to GLITF SA Secretary with plenty of notice.

If you are a member of GLITF SA and living overseas or living too far outside the metropolitan area which makes it impossible for you to attend the offices of the adviser, and you have an urgent problem, you can email us explaining your situation. We will forward your queries on to our migration agent for consideration but please do understand that unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the speed that you will receive a reply; that is dependent on the workload of our pro-bono migration agent.

For members who can meet our pro-bono migration agent and for the session to be helpful, it is recommended that the member think about any questions that relate to their particular application. If the member's application is already at an advanced stage ready for submission to DIAC, the entire package should be brought to the meeting for the agent to review.

Please note the registered migration agent will not submit your application on your behalf under this arrangement.

The DIAC Partnership Booklet

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) publishes a booklet titled "Partner Migration" as a guide to the requirements for Partner Visa classes. Although a softcopy of the booklet can be downloaded from DIAC the hardcopy booklet also includes the original forms that are required to be completed in your application process. This booklet is an invaluable tool to help you establish a framework for your eventual migration application and you will find concise explanation and suggestions of the type of documentary evidence required by the DIAC. GLITF SA Inc. has secured permission to provide each new membership with a copy of the booklet which is included as a part of the new full membership fee.
